About Siddhivinayak:
First
consecrated in 1801 on the 19th of November,
this temple has captured the hearts and
minds of Ganesha devotees for over 200 years.
Lord Ganesha
- also known as Chaturbhuj – has four
arms, each of which carry a different object.
In the upper right hand he holds a lotus
and a small axe is held in his upper left
hand. His lower two hands hold modaks and
holy beads respectively. The deity's forehead
features a third eye representing Lord Shiva.
Surrounding the deity on both sides are
the goddesses Riddhi and Siddhi who stand
for sanctity, fulfillment, prosperity and
riches..
Tuesdays
are considered the most holy day for a Darshan
of Lord Ganesha. Crowds in excess of 1 lac
people line up over the course of this day
to offer up their prayers and ask for the
lord’s blessings.
