About HajiAli:
Haji Ali
Dargah, was constructed over 500 years ago
in honour of Saint Pir Syed Haji Ali Shah
Bukhari (R.A) who came to Mumbai to spread
Islam. Set 500 yards into the sea, the tomb
can be reached via a walkway built out from
the mainland.
The tomb
itself is covered by a rich red and green
‘chaddar’ and is set on an exquisite
silver frame engraved with all the ninety
nine names of Allah. Visitors to the Dargah
can also enjoy the panoramic view of the
surrounding sea and mainland.
Visitors
can visit the Dargah throughout the day
except for certain times when the walkway
is submerged due to either high tides or
the monsoons. This walkway is actually a
recent addition, as earlier access to the
Dargah was via stepping stones dragged into
the sea.
